Collective Stupidity as Peter Sloterdijk's Spheres Introduction This text is a speculation about the stupidity of community formation as presented by Sloterdijk in the first part of his book Bubbles Spheres: Microspherology I .[1] This text is not about modernism nor about post-modernism, nor about other projects or aeshtetics. It is a turnover of the idea that smart ideas lead to smart results and a provocation in which the term intelligence is merely substituted with the term stupidity in order to go through the thought process, to riff with the ideas, and to then examine the results at some later date. The text then starts with writing and slowly devolves into mere quotes that seem to make sense in the context. To understand the stupidity of the collective is essential when thinking about collective intelligence, this should be obvious to anyone working or even living actively in any group formed out of a majority of people.
